There's a new job search player in town with Itzbig. Getting alot of industry buzz, they just made a big splash at the ERE Expo happening now in San Diego. ERE, by the way, is an online networking and info presence for the recruiting industry.
Itzbig's selling proposition, which differentiates them from the Monster, CareerBuilder crowd is a pay-for-performance model where employers can list their jobs for all to see without incurring a cost until (or unless) a candidate expresses interest in the job. In their terminology, the candidate must be "Interested, Qualified and Available" before the employer pays.
Job seekers can remain totally anonymous until they choose to unmask their identity for a specific job that they see posted. Could be advantageous to job seekers who fear having their identities exposed, especially after last year's fiasco with Monster's massive ID theft. Plus, there's a potential advantage of seeing more jobs posted from companies, since employers don't have to pay for each job listing as they do for the conventional job boards.
One potential limiting factor so far, is that this seems to be focused on IT jobs.
You might want to also check out WorkGiant, another job board that came into play last year. I haven't heard much from them lately, but they operate under a similar pay for performance model. They also pay job seekers for referrals, an added twist.
Check them both out and let me know what you think.

Good afternoon Joe, I am having some trouble with my new career, I have found a really interesting job and have been with a company for 10 months now, I have started at the bottem, been paid the bottem end of the wage and can not see that this company will step up to the plate and pay me a real wage. I am sending this email as I have no one to discuss this with and I am so depressed and not able to pull my socks up and really be positive and sell myself to a better employeer who will value what I have to offer a company as someone who is mid thirties and career minded.
I just can't seem to find the right way to sell what I have to offer which I know is what a company needs. I need some help or words of incouragement from you. You made such an impact on me last spring when I lost my job. Now I am making so little that well I feel like, I am never going to get a career and have enough money to save and buy a house or go on vacation.
I feel like I am about to loose everything. I can't afford to go out on my days off. I just sit at home and wait to go back to work to feel like a human being again.

Although itzbig's initial focus was IT, we also have engineering, accounting, finance sales and marketing, business operations and HR positions in the network.
Thx.

Just got some updated info from Denise, who's VP Mktg over at ItzBig. Had some comments from other readers about the fact that there were only jobs for TX and CA posted. I asked her and she responded that there was a controlled beta test for those states. The national rollout will be later this summer, so for those of you who can wait, you might want to check it out again after that time.
